I’m familiar with Fishbrain as a mobile platform that blends highly practical fishing tools with community experiences. On the utility side, i know that it offers interactive fishing maps with advanced layers and filters, catch logging and logbook insights, AI-powered ‘BiteTime’ forecasts, weather conditions, depth charts, and local information that help anglers find the right spots, understand conditions, and improve their fishing game. Those features make Fishbrain a comprehensive planning and performance tool for anglers of all levels.
Users can share catches, photos, and tips; connect with other anglers; exchange insights on techniques and bait effectiveness; join groups; and learn from a larger network of fishing enthusiasts. These social elements turn what could be a purely data-driven tool into a shared and collaborative experience.
I actually referenced Fishbrain in a product workshop I led for Bass Pro Shops’ app a while back as a good baseline for a fishing app. I strongly gave suggestions on how to create layer social features for customer engagement — like challenges, following, events creation, community building, and user contributions — over a utility-first foundation in a way that feels natural rather than gimmicky. Unfortunately I wasn't around to see the project through as I move to another company shortly after.
