I’ve been in the design industry for over three decades—33 years this November—and my journey has taken me across four countries and multiple industries.

I was born and raised in the Philippines, where I earned a degree in Computer Science. I actually planned to become a developer—but I had this itch for systems analysis and design, my favorite subject at the uni. So I thought, “Why not try design for a year and see what happens?” That one year turned into a lifelong career.

I started as a design trainee at a marketing firm, and two years later, I was leading the department. From there, I worked across application design, digital publishing, campaigns, fintech —always with a focus on shaping end-to-end customer journeys across multiple touchpoints. These experiences rewarded me of leadership and management roles.

Until I thought it was time for me to strut my wares overseas.

My international career began in Singapore, where I worked for 4 years as a Design/creative Director, then on to Malmö, where I worked on mobile experiences for children’s clubs that included a game football app called Kickcerz. In fact my boss then, is now a CX guru in Sweden and I’ve learned a lot from her during my stint in Malmö.

Shortly after, I joined LEGO in Denmark—creating digital customer experiences and digital products that were included in campaigns for global franchises like Nexo Knights, LEGO City, and Jurassic World, to name a few. I was also involved in the LEGO’s children social media platform called, LEGO Life.

After 3 years in LEGO, I was recruited by the fintech pioneer Saxo Bank in Copenhagen, were I helped in design experiences and promote trading platforms tailored to everyone from casual investors to serious day-traders—across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

AND in 2020, I landed nicely in Stockholm at a tech bureau in Södermalm called Mobile Interaction, where I was deployed as a consultant for companies like Atlas Copco, Apotea (design project manager), Sandvik (Service Design Lead), and Ericsson (Design lead)—where I worked with cross-functional teams in Supply to help improve and deliver enterprise apps and experiences for teams like the Digital Hub, Transport management, Supply Visualization, AND Digital twin.

Until this month, I’m Design Lead at the Everysport Group, overseeing UI, UX, CX, and service design across our sports platforms. In my time here, I helped improved the UX of the products and made it more social rather just a sport data platform. We were also able to launch an app after its 20yrs of existence. My duties included mentoring designers, and collaborating with marketing, product, and engineering. But currently, I am actively pursuing other opportunities because my company was recently acquired by a larger conglomerate, a lot of products were sold, and my team will be dissolved, together with finance, i think.

And that’s what brings me here—I'm excited about roles like this, where I can bring all that experience together to help roll-out products, that are not only seamless but deeply human-centric on a much larger scale.

So after almost 33 years, I never became a developer and I’m still scratching the itch for design.

As a person, I’d say creativity has always been part of my DNA. When I was a kid, I used to decorate — and constantly redecorate — my mom’s kitchen walls with doodles. That playful curiosity never really went away; even now, the illustrations in my online portfolio are all hand-drawn by me.

I’m also naturally curious. I’ve always been the kind of person who asks “Why?” and try to figure out “How?” .

I’m also outgoing and easy to connect with — I love working with people and building positive energy. But I also value time to recharge. When I do, you’ll usually find me reading, experimenting in the kitchen with new dishes and flavors, or staying active. I’m a big sports fan, both as a player and a spectator — it keeps my competitive spirit and teamwork instincts alive.

So, that in a nutshell is who I am.
